Born and raised in London to Greek parents, Alex’s passion for storytelling was clearly evident as a child, where she endlessly wrote, directed and acted in plays at home. This passion for escaping into other worlds developed into a fascination and obsession into how to craft stories emotionally and visually.
Developing her skills at Bournemouth University where she specialised in editing, Alex wrote and directed numerous award-winning shorts which started her directing journey. Alex's career begun in the UK, where she directed on SCOTT & BAILEY (ITV), HOLLYOAKS LATERS (Channel 4), WATERLOO ROAD (BBC), EASTENDERS (BBC), THE CUT (BBC), SEACHT (BBCNI) and the BAFTA nominated BECOMING HUMAN (BBC).
In 2015, Alex directed her first US project CLEVELAND ABDUCTION (Sony/Lifetime) starring Taryn Manning, Raymond Cruz and Pam Grier. The film was based on the true story of Michelle Knight, who was one of three women held captive for over a decade under abuser Ariel Castro. Praised for its empathy and emotional power, garnering over three million viewers on premiere it also earned Taryn Manning a Critics’ Choice nomination.
Alex has since directed numerous high profile US shows including THE RECRUIT (Netflix), TITANS (HBO Max), IMPULSE (Youtube) and S.W.A.T (CBS), TIMELESS (NBC), THE WHITE PRINCESS (Starz), THE 100 (The CW), QUANTICO (ABC), SALEM (WGN) and ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC). Alex also directed the pilot CLOSE UP (Freeform), a mystery teen drama starring Fivel Stewart and Millicent Simmonds.
In 2019, Alex directed LOVE YOU TO DEATH (Sony/Lifetime) written by Anthony Jaswinski produced by John Davis and Jordan Davis starring Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden and Tony Nominated Emily Skeggs. The film was inspired by the true events of Dee Dee and Gypsy Blanchard exploring the complicated and rare condition of Munchausen by Proxy.
During Covid, Alex also directed the critically acclaimed THREE FAMILIES (BBC) based on Northern Ireland’s strict anti-abortion laws. The show earned multiple award nominations and widespread praise for its powerful storytelling and sensitive direction.
A BAFTA nominated director, Alex is known for emotionally resonant storytelling, grounded performances and bold visual style. With a career spanning both the UK and US, Alex brings a rare ability to move seamlessly between genres—infusing intimate character work into high-concept worlds.
Whether exploring sci-fi dystopias or real-life survival, Alex consistently finds the emotional truth at the heart of every story. She builds trust with her actors allowing space for vulnerability and authenticity and carefully crafts moments that are visually striking and emotionally resonant.
Alex champions stories led by women and underrepresented voices. She gravitates toward narratives that explore identity, morality, and resilience and enjoys stories that challenge genre expectations.
Alex currently resides in Hove, UK and is a member of the DGA, DUK, BAFTA and previously sat on Directors UK Board. She loves to travel and always has a bag packed ready for her next directing adventure.
